North Sound Race and Health Equity Conference | September 18, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Join us for a focused morning of learning, connection, and skill-building centered on mutual aid as a strategy for advancing health equity. This conference is designed for healthcare providers, as well as administrators, students, public health nurses, community health workers, and all who care for community: bringing together diverse perspectives to examine how grassroots, reciprocal support systems can help address longstanding healthcare inequities in our region.
Participants will hear from keynote speaker Paula Kett, PhD, MPH, RN. She is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington, Deputy Director of the UW Center for Health Workforce Studies, and Director of the Health Workforce Research Center on Health Equity. Dr. Kett is a nurse scientist whose interdisciplinary, equity-oriented research focuses on the public health and perinatal health workforce, with particular attention to addressing perinatal health inequities, bringing a grounded, systems-level lens to the day's conversation on mutual aid and healthcare.
Following the keynote, attendees will get an inside look at the North Sound ACH Community Hub – our community-driven, regional network helping people connect to social and health services that match their unique needs – and its key resources, then move into hands-on practice and breakout groups designed to build practical, transferable skills for applying mutual aid strategies within their own healthcare settings and community partnerships. The morning closes with a shared debrief and a spotlight on the North Sound Health Equity Scholarship.
